What it makes you produce
2 items for your checklist, slowest first.
A state you have to be in, in a government system
The record has to be posted before the prime can see it, and posting is not the same day as being ready.
An authorized radio frequency allocation for the device, which is what lets it be tested or operated at all
DFARS 252.235-7003(a)
Something you write
Days to weeks, and nobody outside your company has to agree to it.
The device's technical operating characteristics, handed to the buyer during the planning, experimental or development phase rather than after the prototype is built
DFARS 252.235-7003(b)
When it is used
Applies in contracts to develop, produce, construct, test, or operate a device requiring radio frequency authorization (prescription 235.072(b); Alt I when the DD Form 1494 is used). Flows down to any sub whose work involves such a device — no dollar threshold.
Read closely
Where the version in the document is the alternate, the route is DD Form 1494, Application for Equipment Frequency Allocation, named at paragraph (c) of that alternate. (d) carries the clause verbatim into any of your own orders for a device needing an authorization.

SAME NUMBER AND SAME DESIGNATION, MOVED PRESCRIPTION: 235.072(b) and (b)(1) codified, 235.176(c) and (c)(1) under the deviation, and the basic-versus-alternate gate is the same in both. This is research, not legal advice. It states what the regulation says about this clause and cites the paragraph behind it. It does not rule on your order, and it does not rule on whether a prime's markings are correct.
