DFARS 252.245-7001 Reserved. [formerly: Tagging, Labeling, and Marking of Government-Furnished Property]
Does the regulation require it to flow down?
No
No mandate can exist for a reserved section. What does reach you is FAR 52.245-1(b)(3), which requires the prime to include the requirements of the Government Property clause in every subcontract under which Government property is acquired or furnished for performance — and identification and marking are part of the (f) property-management-system criteria that clause imposes. Primes keep 252.245-7001 on the list because the government-property block of a flow-down matrix is copied whole from year to year: the 2007 Force Protection/GDLS, 2020 CACI and 2021 Lockheed citations predate the repeal, but AAR's January 2026 C-40 terms do not.
A clause can reach your subcontract without a mandate. Once it is in your document, it is a contract term all the same. The missing mandate is a fact about the regulation. It is not a ruling on your order.

What it makes you produce
One item for your checklist.
There is no clause at this number
The number points at a section with no text in it, so there is nothing to follow and nothing to send.
There is no clause at this number — it reads Reserved in the DFARS, and the marking of Government property it carried moved into DFARS 252.245-7005(d) and FAR 52.245-1(f)

When it is used
Nothing triggers this number. Removed and reserved effective 2024-01-22 by DFARS Case 2020-D029 (88 FR 88533, 2023-12-22), the same rule that removed 252.211-7007, 252.245-7002 and 252.245-7004 and consolidated all four into DFARS 252.245-7005 (JAN 2024). DFARS 245.107 as printed on 2026-08-05 prescribes only FAR 52.245-1 (paragraph (1)), DFARS 252.245-7000 for mapping/charting/geodesy property (2), DFARS 252.245-7003 (3) and DFARS 252.245-7005 (4) — there is no paragraph left for 252.245-7001. What the repealed clause required — marking serially managed Government property that arrived unmarked — now lives in DFARS 252.245-7005(d) and in the FAR 52.245-1(f) property management system criteria.
Read closely
Removed effective 2024-01-22 by the same rule that consolidated the DoD Government property clauses; DFARS 245.107 now prescribes only FAR 52.245-1, 252.245-7000, 252.245-7003 and 252.245-7005. The duty behind it survives at those numbers — a serially managed item that arrives unmarked still has to be identified and recorded — so a separate tagging procedure keyed to this number adds work without adding compliance.

This is research, not legal advice. It states what the regulation says about this clause and cites the paragraph behind it. It does not rule on your order, and it does not rule on whether a prime's markings are correct.
